Welcome to Black Watch Stables, my model horse stable and (beginning) customizing studio! I'll post all sorts of things here, from CMs I'm working on or have finished, to show pix and results, to real horse ramblings, etc. I will also entertain suggestions, so if you have one, contact me!

Goals Revisited

I know, I know, i still owe you guys the second half of my NAN post, and I promise i WILL post it, i've just been insanely busy with my summer rabbit/wildlife rescue gig and haven't had time to sit down and think about what i want to write yet.  That and its been SO. FREAKING. HOT! here in DFW that i don't particularly want to do ANYTHING other than sit around the house right next to the AC unit and try not to melt when I get home from work.

After NAN and a little break from hobby stuff (that is; not spending every weekend doing something to prepare for the next live show.  I'm still judging the MEPSA Photo Show!), I've decided to re-evaluate the goals I set in April, and perhaps make some new ones.

Here's the list, for those of you who don't feel like finding that post
1. NAN Top Ten for Atari: MET!  And exceeded.  Not only did he Top 10, he won the National Championship in CM/AR Dressage.

2. NAN Top 10 For Logan:  Not met.  He was on 2 of the 3 judges cards, but did not top 10.  This was kindof unexpected for me, as i've written before, but i know what we need to do to fix it for the future.  It just means some tweaks to his entries, which i can do before NAN 2012, as he still has multiple qualifications.

3.  NAN Top 10 or Cookie for Mahoney:  MET!  And exceeded, with 4 TTs, 2 Reserves, and a Grand championship this year.  He's now retired so I can focus on showing my Straplii. (that's the plural of Strapless, for those of you playing along at home)

4. Finish my planned foxhunting diorama.  Yea, more like START.  Money is really tight right now, so this may have to get pushed back to Christmas Break, depending on a.) where i am with grad school work, and b.) funding at that point in time.

5. Finish Arena Wall for Western Events:  well, this is half taken care of.  I bought a chain link wall from Christie P., so i have a quite serviceable one for now.  however, i still need a solid wall for stock work events -- i THINK I can use the chain link, but i know solid is much more commonly used, and it doesn't hurt to have extra stuff.

6. Documentation for Western & Games Entries: Again, not started yet.  My reining horse has no clothes or tack at the moment, so this can wait a bit as well.  I'm going to work on it in the fall, at least start getting pictures in documents so i can add the relevant information later.

7. Plan Western Setups:  well, i've been playing with this a little bit, and I think the setups i've done are okay.  they're not FABULOUS by any means, but they're okay.  I'll keep working on them, for sure.  And of course get a cow, since i still don't have one.

8. Horses Photographed for SD List: i'm about halfway there.  This is something i can probably get done before school starts, depending on business.  I just need to sit down and DO it.

9. MHV Updates:  I've done a few; mostly when prominent stallions within the breed have passed away, but also some other things.  As far as approvals, i'm behind.  I do intend to get them caught up, probably this week.

10. Hanoverian Articles:  Not started yet. I'll work on them as time allows during school.  I've always had time before, so we'll see what happens now.

11. Judge MEPSA Show in a timely manner:  well, I'm taking a little longer than anticipated, but i should be done this week and get the photos sent back out.  So i think this one is nearly met.

WHEW.  Still a lot of goals, but honestly i still think they're going to be meet-able.  Is that even a word?  Of course I'll need to draft some help with the dioramas, but i think i can even get those done if i budget my time well.  Maybe not for the OK show in November, but probably for Midwinter's in January.  I'd also like to re-tag my showstring and get my entire collection in a database with EMCAT Numbers, names, breeds, etc.  That way I at least know what i have in terms of Breeds and number of models.  I always estimate that i have somewhere around 300, but i'm not entirely sure if that's right or not, so I need to get that together.  Make some sort of recording system for who has what in terms of show awards and NAN cards and whatnot.

So thats where i sit right now.  Just waiting for things to cool off so i can get painting again and get some other stuff out of my little studio!
